IMPORTANT INFORMATION - STATE TEAM SELECTION

Juniors must be a member of a Sydney or Regional Squad to be eligible for NSW State Team selection and NSW Squash Squads to selected Tournaments

As at 1 May each year, each player on the NSW Squash Junior Rankings list is to be circulated with a notice advising them that they must confirm with the NSW Squash Office by 31 May if they are available/not available for the State Junior Team. NSW Squash will then publish a list of those players available/not available for selection, so that all players on the rankings list are aware well in advance of their potential State Team opportunities.

SERVICES AND SUPPORT AVAILABLE TO JUNIOR SQUASH PLAYERS IN NSW
JUNIOR BEGINNER: There are a wide range of options for young beginner players to train and compete within club coaching programs to learn the BASICS. Squash is an easy game to learn, and there are modified games and equipment to suit every size and skill level. It is important that beginner players start to develop correct TECHNIQUE under the guidance of a qualified Coach.
JUNIOR CLUB: Players will be introduced to in-house and inter-club competition under the guidance of qualified coaches. Players should establish the ability and desire to respond especially to the TECHNICAL area through this stage of their development. Players should also have an understanding and appreciation of the TACTICAL and PSYCHOLOGICAL skills used in the game.Players should be introduced to PHYSICAL FITNESS programs specific to the game.

In Sydney and Country Regional areas, circuit tournaments are successfully running and cater for all ages and all standards. Contact your nearest Squash Club or NSW Squash for further information.
TALENT ID: Players that stand out with the potential, attitude and focus to develop into a high grade player, progress through the Sydney and Country Regional Development Squad programs into the NSW Squash Academy.
SQUAD TRAINING: The purpose of the Squad system is to provide training with players of comparable standard under professional supervision, which might otherwise not be available to the player concerned.Players are provided with a solid, regular and consistent training base at a more advanced level with the State’s leading squash juniors. The principal is that the squad training supplements (not replaces) private coaching sessions.
