Published Fri 12 Dec 2025

Squash NSW is proud to celebrate one of Australia’s greatest sporting icons, Heather McKay, originally from Queanbeyan, who will be formally inducted into the Professional Squash Association (PSA) Hall of Fame.

Widely regarded as the greatest athlete in squash history, McKay dominated the sport throughout the 1960s and 1970s. Her unprecedented achievements include an unmatched run of British Open titles and an extraordinary 18-year undefeated streak in competitive play. Her skill, sportsmanship and impact on the global squash community helped shape the modern game, inspiring generations of players across Australia and around the world.

CEO of Squash NSW, Scott Murray, paid tribute to McKay’s enduring legacy:
"When you speak of excellence in squash, Heather McKay’s name rises instantly to the top. She is not only an extraordinary athlete, but a true custodian of the sport—someone whose passion for the game has never wavered"

Squash NSW looks forward to celebrating this milestone moment and continuing to honour the athletes, volunteers and supporters who shape our sport. On behalf of
the Squash NSW community, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to Heather McKay on this well-deserved honour.
